How do you describe your work to those who don’t work in your field?

I support the process of academic integrity for all faculties within the College of Health Sciences. In cases of academic misconduct, such as cheating and plagiarism, I support decision-makers by gathering all necessary information to ensure informed decisions are made. Additionally, I am responsible for overseeing the implementation of the new Student Academic Integrity Policy, addressing any questions or concerns related to it. I also assist with placements and offer support wherever needed within the college.

What led you to your current role?

I was driven by a desire to do meaningful work and my passion for learning and improving processes. Previously, I worked at the Students' Association of NorQuest College, where I supported students with academic misconduct cases, similar to an ombuds role. In the three years, I witnessed the association's relationship with NorQuest improve, which significantly enhanced the student experience and created more positive outcomes. Witnessing this change led me to my current role.

What’s something your co-workers don’t know about you?

I love K-pop, especially the group BTS. I know how to sing and rap their songs, and I love performing their music during karaoke.

How do you navigate challenges?

When faced with challenges, I find it helpful to take a 5-10 minute walk. This helps clear my mind and improve my decision-making. I then brainstorm ideas and create a plan of action. Depending on the type of challenge I’ll be sure to ask for help and talk with someone as well.

What’s your favourite distraction?

I love audiobooks and anime, particularly fantasy stories. I can get lost in their intricate world-building for days on end.

If you were enrolling in one course, program, or degree within the College of Health Sciences right now, what would it be?

I would enroll in the Bachelor of Kinesiology program. I appreciate how it blends art and science in the study of human movement.
