Video spotlight: Tennis Pandas seek fourth straight national championship

Women's tennis team would be only the third in U of A history to achieve at least four consecutive wins.

The U of A’s tennis Pandas are chasing a fourth national championship this August, adding to eight national titles for the men’s and women’s tennis varsity teams since 2014.

Last year they became the first U of A varsity program to win three straight national titles since the Pandas hockey team won three consecutive CIS titles from 2002 to 2004.

The tennis Pandas would be just the third team in U of A history to win four or more national titles in a row, joining Pandas rugby, who won five straight from 1999 to 2003, and Pandas volleyball, who won six straight from 1995 to 2000.

In this video, the team’s captain and head coach discuss their chances as the Pandas face the best teams in the country at the National Bank Open in Montreal.
