Supreme Court of Canada to hear appeals in Access Copyright v. York University

On Thursday, October 15, the Supreme Court of Canada announced that it would hear the appeals from both sides of the Access Copyright v. York University case. Access Copyright is appealing the Federal Court of Appeal's decision that the post-secondary tariff has voluntary, not mandatory, application to institutions. York University is appealing the Federal Court of Appeal's decision that the application of its Fair Dealing Guidelines does not constitute "fair dealing" under the Copyright Act.
