One of the best ways we can prevent suicide is to talk about it. Be part of the vital conversation on campus. Know what mental health resources are available and learn essential suicide prevention skills to keep our campus community safe. Join us from Jan. 20-24 for wellness events and training opportunities throughout the week. 

Resiliency Through Art | Jan. 21

Jan. 21|  11 a.m. - 1 p.m. MST | Students Union Building, Room 4-02 

This interactive arts-based session invites participants to explore and celebrate their resilience through creative expression. Using a variety of mediums such as chalk pastel, collage and writing, participants will engage in reflective activities that focus on personal growth, values and strengths. The session, led by multidisciplinary artist Ania Telfer, includes both individual and collaborative exercises, encouraging self-discovery while fostering connection and mutual support among participants. Students will create personal artworks and contribute to a collective piece that symbolizes shared resilience and community. This is a two-hour guided workshop with attendance recommended for the entire event.

Drop by the table at the Cameron Corner at the Cameron Library to build your own Self Care Kit and learn more about mental health resources on campus.  

Pause and Play: Movie and Unwind Night | Jan. 22

Jan. 22 | 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. MST | Career Centre, Room  2-100, Students Union Building

Come join the Men's Health Group and the Active Minds student groups for a screening of Inside Out 2, board games and pizza. Drop in!

Yoga for Mental Health | Jan. 23

Jan. 23 | 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. MST | Room 2-675, Van Vliet

Join Wellness Supports and Community Recreation for a free yoga class where you can learn about the importance of physical activity and how to better support your mental health and well-being. This course is drop-in friendly, and participants of all skill levels are welcome.

Question, Persuade Refer 

Jan. 24 | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. MST | Online

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a 2-hour certified suicide prevention training program. U of A staff, faculty and students gain skills to recognize and support people who may be having thoughts of suicide.
