Loneliness and social isolation among older adults are growing concerns that often go unnoticed. Many seniors live without close family or friends, making them vulnerable to health issues and neglect in healthcare settings. Stephanie Chamberlain, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing, joins us to explore the health impacts of isolation, barriers to support, and the experiences of ‘unbefriended’ seniors in long-term care. We’ll cover how policy changes and practical solutions can improve their well-being and healthcare access, ensuring no one is left behind. This is an issue that affects us all, and understanding it is the first step toward meaningful change.
