Kenichi Shimizu receives SSHRC Insight Development Grant
25 September 2024
Dr. Kenichi Shimizu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta, has been awarded an Insight Development Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for 2024-2026 ($65,468). This grant supports his innovative research project, 'New Bayesian econometric methods for high-dimensional models in industrial organization and quantitative marketing.' The project will investigate how the techniques in statistics and machine learning can shed light on dimensionality issues in some models in industrial organization and quantitative marketing. Bayesian methods can provide flexible and systematic approaches for uncertainty quantification and predictions even in high-dimensional settings.
Kenichi Shimizu received his PhD in 2021 from Brown University. Before joining the University of Alberta, Doctor Shimizu previously held a position at the Adam Smith Business School, at the University of Glasgow. His research interests include Econometrics, Bayesian Statistics, Quantitative Marketing, Industrial Organization, and Time Series.
