Results of U of A Vaccination Survey
18 August 2021
Last week, to strengthen our understanding of the University of Alberta's COVID-19 vaccination rates, a survey was sent out asking the university community to anonymously share vaccination status.
25,322 members of our community responded to this survey.
The survey shows a high level of vaccination among respondents. 95% of respondents are fully vaccinated or plan to be fully vaccinated. This includes:
- 91% of students who responded will be fully vaccinated by August 30.
- 97% of faculty who responded will be fully vaccinated by August 30.
- 96% of staff who responded will be fully vaccinated by August 30.
We recognize that there are limitations to opt-in surveys, but these data suggest that the University of Alberta community has an encouraging and higher than average level of vaccination participation in Edmonton zones (61%-71%). I am proud of our community, as the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and those around you is to get vaccinated.
The survey data can be viewed here. (Please note you must be logged in with a CCID to view.)
New safety measures
As noted at the end of last week, the university recognizes that we are in a rapidly changing environment and that there is an urgent need to take further measures to ensure a safe return to campus. Yesterday, we announced new measures for the fall term to maximize safety for in-person teaching and learning.
If you are among those who have not yet been vaccinated, I’d urge you to do so as soon as possible. Vaccines are widely available in Alberta, including at the University Health Centre and UHC Pharmacy. Mass vaccination clinics will be held on Augustana Campus on August 31 and North Campus September 1, 2, 7, and 8. The clinics will be free and available to anyone for drop-in service, and more information will be shared soon.
Thank you for doing your part to keep the University of Alberta community safe.
