Please join us in congratulating Pilar Lecumberri-Sanchez and Matt Steele-MacInnis, both of whom recently received major awards recognizing their research excellence.
Pilar was named this years winner of the Waldemar Lindgren Award by the Society of Economic Geologists. The Lindgren award is presented annually in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the field of economic geology by a young earth scientist.
Matt Steele-MacInnis was named this years winner of the Hisashi Kuno Award by the Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology section of the American Geophysical Union. The early career Hisashi Kuno award is given annually by the VGP Section for outstanding contributions to the fields of volcanology, geochemistry or petrology.
Pilar and Matt, who both joined EAS as of September 1st, 2017, have wasted no time in establishing our department as a center of excellence for research in Economic Geology.
