Mostly Remote Through Stage 1
The U of A is remaining mostly remote through Alberta’s Stage One.
Everyone currently working and studying remotely will continue to do so until we provide further notice. We expect to remain in our current state until later in June. We hope to learn more about the province’s Stage 2 likely next week, and will be providing an update about our own next steps shortly thereafter.
For now though, thank you all for holding on as we each do our part to help make it through the pandemic.
First and Second Doses - Get ‘em when you can
This week Alberta announced that in addition to first dose vaccine bookings, a phased approach to second dose bookings is now in place.
First doses are still being booked - so if you haven’t received your first COVID-19 shot yet, you won’t be left out. Please sign-up to get yours.
The booking schedule for second doses is based on the timing of your first dose:
First Dose Received |
Second Dose Bookings Start |
Before March 31 |
Available to schedule now |
April |
June 14 |
May |
June 28 |
People who are profoundly immunocompromised and meet the eligibility criteria can book their second doses earlier.
Second doses boost our immunity and provide the greatest protection against COVID-19 and the identified variants. While first doses are a step towards limiting the impacts of COVID-19, the second dose is needed to experience the full benefits of available vaccines.
COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine are available for all eligible Albertans with a valid Alberta health care card at the University Health Centre Pharmacy. COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the Moderna vaccine are available for all eligible Albertans with a valid Alberta health care card at the University Health Centre.
Individuals who do not have an Alberta Health Care card can still book a vaccination through AHS by calling 811 Alberta Health Link.
