Ph.D. Timeline
The following timeline describes what students are expected to accomplish each academic term while in the program. (Shift terms accordingly for a Winter start.) Deviations from the timeline must be approved by the student's supervisor and by the department.
- Residency requirement: The minimum period of residence is two academic years of full-time attendance at the University of Alberta.
- Program length: You are expected to complete your program within 5 years. At most, you could take up to 6 years - continuation after this time requires a Program Extension official application that must be approved by both the department and FGSR.
