Bachelor of Arts (Drama) / Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education Combined Degrees Program Guide
Have you ever had a drama or performing arts teacher who made a great impact on your life, and helped you find your passion? With this exciting combined degree program you can make that same impact for future generations as a Bachelor of Arts (Drama) and Bachelor of Education degree recipient and set out on you own path to inspire and educate future generations through the arts. That’s right, you can graduate in just five years with two degrees: a BA (Drama) degree and a BEd (Secondary) degree.
This is a highly structured program allowing for in-depth theatrical study paired with the training required to be a Junior or Senior High School teacher (Grades 7-12). Master the art of drama, the profession of teaching, and become empowered to inspire, educate, and make a lasting impact on future generations through this exciting program.
Academic Requirements for BA Drama/BEd Secondary students
- This Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education Combined Degrees program consists of 150 units normally taken over five years of full-time study. Coursework within the two Faculties is taken concurrently.
- Students initially apply for admission to the Faculty of Arts and are considered to be registered in that Faculty for the first three years of the program. All qualified Year 3 Bachelor of Arts (Drama)/Bachelor of Education students will be promoted to Year 4 in the Faculty of Education provided a minimum GPA of a 2.3 has been achieved and a minimum of 90 units applicable to this program has been successfully completed.
- Please note that the Combined BA/BEd program requires a minimum of 9 units of 400-level DRAMA or above. A recommended program structure is outlined below. Since this program is very tightly constructed, and depends on careful sequencing of DRAMA courses throughout the five years of the program, we strongly encourage students to consult with program advisors prior to making any variations to this program.
