Know more about SPIC MACAY
|
The aim of
SPIC-MACAY is to promote the awareness of Indian cultural traditions amongst
the younger generation of Indians, many of whom have little exposure to
Indian classical music and dance. In the years since its founding, SPIC-MACAY
has grown into a nationwide movement with chapters in almost every major city
in the country and in several places around the world. SPIC-MACAY is a
movement by, of, and for the youth. We hope that every person's life becomes
just that much more enhanced, not only by attending a program but also by
getting involved with the movement. |
The University of Alberta is a part of the SPIC MACAY
movement, which aims at creating an awareness of Indian culture and music. The
quest for Indian music was started in the institute with the formation of the
Sangeet Sabha. This was an internal group of students and faculty members
having a passion for Indian Classical Music. Meetings and performances, which
brought out the talents present in us, were held. The aim is to have frequent
activities in the institute and invite renowned artistes to give
performances. Other
