Q. Is there acccommodation close to St. Stephen's College?

Q. What amenities are available at St. Stephen's College for students?
A. Students are welcome to use the facilities in the kitchen: fridge, kettle and microwave. There is coffee and tea available for a small charge. Many students have lunch in the lounge area. In addition there are numerous food outlets close by at HUB Mall. A computer with internet access and use of a printer are available to use in the lounge. The cost to send a fax is $1 per page. Photocopies are .10 cents or .16 cents double-sided.

Q. What is considered full-time and part-time status for the education tax credit?
A.
Full-time and part-time students are eligible for the education tax credit for each month of registration. T2202A forms will be sent to students by the end of February.

Full-time student: Full-time students are registered in a minimum of 60 percent of a full course load with St. Stephen’s College (a full course load is defined as two credits per month at St. Stephen’s College). For taxation or Alberta Student Finance purposes, for example, students who register in a minimum of 9 credits over a four-month period or 12 credits over a six-month period are considered full-time. Course extensions will not extend a student's full-time status. Doctoral students are considered full time while they are working on their dissertation.

Part-time Student: Part-time students are registered in less than 60 percent of a full course load with St. Stephen’s College (a full course load is defined as two credits per month at St. Stephen’s College). For taxation or Alberta Student Finance purposes, for example, students who are registered in less than 12 credits over a six-month period are considered part-time.

Q. What resources can I use to find out about living in Edmonton?

Q. Is there parking nearby?
A.There is public parking behind St. Stephen's College. The rates in the St. Stephen's College Public Parking lot are: $1.50 for each half an hour, $15.00 daily and a $5 flat evening rate after 6pm

Q. What are the deadlines for submitting a project dissertation?
A. Students planning to graduate from the Doctor of Ministry program, which has a Project Dissertation (P/D) as a requirement, must meet the following deadlines:

1.  Submission of Final Draft of P/D: A final draft, approved by the P/D Committee, must be submitted to the DMin Program Coordinator by Feb 15 of the year of graduation, to permit faculty reading and external assessment.
2.  Revisions/Submission of Final P/D: P/D, incorporating any revisions required by examiners, must be submitted to the DMin Program Coordinator by March 31. P/D Committee gives final approval in early May.
3.  Final, approved, binding-ready, unbound copy of P/D submitted to DMin Office by May 31.

Q. What are the deadlines for submitting a thesis?
A. Students planning to graduate from a degree program where a thesis is a requirement must meet the following deadlines:

1.  Thesis Proposal approval: Supervisor forwards proposal to Program Coordinator April 1 of year prior to intended year of graduation.

2.  Submission of Final Draft: A final draft of thesis, approved by thesis supervisor, submitted to Program Coordinator by April 1 of the year of graduation, to permit faculty reading and assessment.

3.  Revisions/Submission of Final Thesis: Thesis, incorporating any revisions required by examiners, must be submitted to the Program Coordinator by August 1 for final approval.

Q. How do I request an Official Transcript?
A. Please submit an Official Transcript Request Form.

Q. Am I able to use the library at the University of Alberta?
A. Yes, Rutherford Library at the University of Alberta provides services to St. Stephen’s students and faculty. The Rutherford Library is located a half-block north of St. Stephens College. To get your library card in person, go to the Circulation Services desk in Rutherford Library North. To register for free delivery services with the University of Alberta Libraries Interlibrary Loans/Document Delivery Office, call 1-780-492-3795. St. Stephen’s students and faculty can access library e-journal databases or the internet (in person only) from the public computers in the Rutherford Library. St. Stephen’s students who do not have a Campus Computing ID may request a guest ID at any circulation desk. A guest ID can be used until midnight of the day it is issued. Q. Am I able to transfer courses into my degree program?

You will need to request approval for a transfer credit. (This applies to courses either before you enter a degree program, or while you are in it), Upon completion of this form please submit it to their Degree Program Coordinator.
